CHAPTER ONE :: HEAVENBENT
The Akatsuki have taken over the Five Great Shinobi Nations. Konoha fell first; Pein led the attack and the Hi no Kuni soon crumbled. Pein was oddly forgiving, and allowed Tsunade and the rest of Konohagakure to evacuate the country. They fled to Suna – but it was all to be lost, for the Akatsuki attacked Suna next. Gaara and his shinobi fought hard, but were defeated. Gaara and Tsunade fled to the Kaminari no Kuni, Land of Lightning. The Raikage welcomed them, but were inevitably attacked by the Akatsuki. The same happened to Mizu no Kuni, and so only Tsuchi no Kuni was left.
All the kages and their shinobi and kunoichi hid in Iwagakure no Sato. For a long time, there was no sign of movement from the Akatsuki. And then, quite suddenly, they were attacked – and not only by the Akatsuki. They had gathered an army, enormous, made up of the forces of Mizu no Kuni, Kami no Kuni, Kaze no Kuni, and Hi no Kuni; Iwagakure stood no chance. And so it was defeated as well.
The Akatsuki held control over all the Five Great Shinobi nations, and so the kages had no choice but to flee to the lesser nations. Konoha occupied Kusa no Kuni; Suna occupied Kuma no Kuni; Kiri occupied Taki no Kuni; Iwa occupied Yuki no Kuni; and Kumo occupied Sora no Kuni. The occupation was only temporary, the kages assured the lords and ladies, and so they were allowed to stay until they managed to gain enough shinobi and kunoichi to attack the force of the Akatsuki.
Inevitably, all the lesser nations lived in fear, wondering if the Akatsuki would attack them next.
